2017年9月発売。iPhone 8は第11世代にあたるiPhoneで、iPhone 6以来の基本デザインを継承しながら、背面をアルミニウムからガラスへ変更したモデルである。4.7インチ・750×1334ドットのRetina HDディスプレイとTouch IDを搭載。プロセッサには6コアCPUとニューラルエンジンを備えたApple A11 Bionicを採用し、機械学習を活用する時代への転換を示した。背面カメラは1200万画素で、4K/60fps動画撮影にも対応。ガラス製背面の採用によってQi規格のワイヤレス充電をiPhoneとして初めて実現した。初期OSはiOS 11で、最終的にiOS 16まで対応。同時発表されたiPhone Xがホームボタンを廃止した一方、iPhone 8はTouch IDとホームボタンを備えた従来型iPhoneデザインの完成形となった。

Released in September 2017, the iPhone 8 was part of the 11th generation of iPhone. While retaining the basic design established with the iPhone 6, it replaced the aluminum back with glass. It featured a 4.7-inch 750×1334-pixel Retina HD display and Touch ID. The Apple A11 Bionic processor introduced a six-core CPU and Neural Engine, reflecting Apple’s growing use of machine learning.
Its rear camera had a 12-megapixel sensor and supported 4K video recording at up to 60 fps. The new glass back also enabled Qi wireless charging for the first time on an iPhone. Originally shipped with iOS 11, the iPhone 8 ultimately supported iOS 16. While the simultaneously introduced iPhone X eliminated the Home button, the iPhone 8 represented the mature form of the traditional iPhone design built around a physical Home button and Touch ID.
